Every year, Muslims all over the world eagerly await the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, as it brings blessed days and nights, forgiveness, and the pleasure of God Almighty for His believing servants. In this blessed month, the Holy Quran was revealed to be a beacon for humanity throughout the years .

The longest and shortest fasting hours during Ramadan in the world. The lines of longitude and latitude determine the expected fasting hours in each country. The closer the country is to the North Pole, the longer the fasting hours there are. The further south it is from the equator, the shorter the day is . 

 

 

What is the longest fasting period in the world?

Greenland: Greenland is located in the northern hemisphere and is characterized by the "midnight sun" phenomenon in the summer, where the sun does not set for consecutive days. Fasting hours in Nuuk, Greenland, reach 20 hours. Some areas near the North Pole experience very long daylight periods, which makes fasting hours in those areas longer. 

Iceland: Fasting hours in Iceland reach 19 hours and 59 minutes. Iceland is located close to the Arctic Circle and experiences long winters and short summers.

Fasting has many virtues and benefits that encourage Muslims to engage in it and ease the hardship and difficulty they may encounter in performing it. In addition to its health benefits, fasting is one of the greatest reasons for forgiveness of sins. It is a shield, a protection and a covering for the servant in this world and the hereafter.
