Chicken Musakhan with a Moroccan Twist (Chicken Breasts)

Chicken Musakhan with a Moroccan Twist (Chicken Breasts)

Serves: 4–5 people

Ingredients

Chicken breasts : 700–900 g (slices)

Onions: 3 sliced

Sumac: 2 tablespoons (essential for the musakhan)

Olive oil: 6 tablespoons

Moroccan Touch Spices: Cumin + Ginger + Turmeric (a pinch of each)

Lemon juice/pickled lemon (optional)

Arabic bread/Shrak for serving

Toasted pine nuts/almonds for decoration

Preparation method

(1) Sauté the onions in olive oil over low heat until they soften and become sweet.

(2) Add sumac, spices, salt and pepper and stir for 2 minutes.

(3) Brown the chicken breast slices in a pan until cooked.

(4) Mix the chicken with the seasoned onions, and let it marinate for 5 minutes.

(5) Serve on top of toasted bread/shrak, and garnish with nuts.
